Hi everyone!
I have edited the date on this newsletter three times, now, and it's just time
to send it. I want you all to know that I really appreciate each
of you for subscribing. We're 354 strong, and I hope that you will find
this newsletter informative and helpful in your daily computer activities.
Today, I'd like to comment on a few important issues that I have discovered in
the last few days.
Did you know that on September 11th, 2001, 25,000 - 30,000 people escaped from
the World Trade Center? This was reported by the mayor of New York on
David Letterman. I was shocked and thankful to hear this. What a
miracle? 30,000 walked out with dignity and respect for each other, no one
was trampled, people were helping each other and moving down as many as 90
flights of stairs in an orderly fashion. Gotta love it!! I just
wanted you all to hear something positive.
There are some real healing things we can do to get through this:
1. Put one foot in front of the other, and go about your regular routines.
Just do it. You will feel better eventually.
2. Talk about this as much as you need to. All Americans (others from
other countries) feel the pain and uncertainty, whether they knew someone or not
that died in the World Trade Center disaster.
3. Don't make any huge life decisions at this time. We are all in an
emotional state, and you need to just get through the day, and save the heavy
stuff for a calmer time in your life.
4. Patience, love, and caring for one another.

Some practical advice for your computer:
1. Keep your anti-virus software updated. There will be some sick
people that take this time to try to wreak more havoc in your lives with a
stupid computer virus.
2. Realize that there is going to be some untrue emails going around.

Still Haunting the Inbox
------------------------
Virus announcement and virus hoax e-mails are afoot! We try to keep
current on them and do our best to point readers to authoritative links
confirming or debunking them.

No, folks are not dropping dead left, right, and center after receiving a deadly
toxin in a blue envelope. The dreaded Klingerman Virus hoax is back, this
time thoughtfully attributed to the Kinderman Foundation,
Kricker Group, and Leberman Foundation, in addition to the original
(and wholly fictitious) Klingerman Foundation. The hoax first scared the
bejeezus out of folks in May 2000, and is back now because heightened fears
about the possibility of biochemical warfare have reawakened it.

Seems like everyone has become the recipient of mysterious e-mails
promising untold wealth if only one helps a wealthy African quietly move
millions of dollars out of his country. The venerable Nigerian scam has
discovered the goldmine that is the Internet. Beware -- there's still no
such thing as "something for nothing," and the contents of your bank
account will end up with these wily Africans if you fall in with this.

No, there is still no Captain Abraham Sands of the Jacksonville Police
Department who is warning folks about HIV-laden needles affixed to gas
pump handles. This hoax that was all the rage in June of last year has
been revived for another go-round. Some versions now put the fictitious
Captain Sands with the Buffalo Police Department.

No one is trying to get "Touched By An Angel" cancelled, nor is there
a plot afoot to remove all mentions of religion from the airwaves. This
tomfoolery has been around for more than *25 years* and there was never anything
to it, even while Madalyn Murray O'Hair was alive. (The latest versions of
this petition now include the information that O'Hair is dead but go on to
assert the threat of the loss of Christian programming is real anyway. It
ain't.)

3. Remember, many wonderful patriotic emails, and pictures are out there, so
don't close yourself off from the positive things circulating.
